Who am I and why did I start 310 Fitness?

My name Is CJ and I am the founder of 310 Fitness. When I was growing up, I spent most of my time playing PlayStation and eating junk food, I never done exercise and had no idea that someone could change their body. When I was 14 during a PE lesson, I ended up sitting on a rowing machine and turns out I was pretty good. I started training regularly and noticed a change in my body. I got talent scouted and took my training to the next level which in hand I noticed even more change in my body. I became a competitive rower and had ambition to go to Oxford and compete in the boat race.
Unfortunately, that dream came to an end when I was 17 and picked up a knee injury which meant rowing at a high level was game over. After years of doing the sport, I loved was over and not coming back I reverted back to my previous favourite past time of eating and playing PlayStation. I gain a lot of weight and stopped all forms of exercise. I didn't know what I wanted to do with life and was just lost.
I was approached and asked to train and manage a local rowing club. This was my first job in sport/fitness, and I had no idea what I was doing to be honest. I relied on my past experiences in training to help me teach people how to row and it paid off. My team managed to clean up at that year’s competition and we won 10 out of the 12 races. I was awarded manager of the year and felt motivated to carry on teaching others and bettering my skills.
Shortly after this I got myself back into training and started to learn about nutrition. Through all my years as a completive rower nutrition was never brought into the equation and I did defiantly suffer because of this. I realised how vital nutrition really is when training and have since become a nationalist. I have partnered myself with a friend who is a sports and exercise nutritionist who’s is qualified from the university of Loughborough.
Spending most of my time in the gym environment bettering myself and my knowledge I would sit in the gym and often find myself just watching people. Not in a creepy way but more to see what training they was doing and what technique they had. I would also often watch the personal trainers a see what they were prescribing to clients. What I noticed was gym goers typically were a bit lost and needed some help with their training, they had poor technique and would often just lift for the sake of lifting something (I know this because I have been there) and I also noticed a lot of PT's spend most of their time on the phone while with a client. now don't get me wrong sometimes they will need a stopwatch or to check their plan. However, I don't think they need to be flicking through their Instagram feed. This also is not an attack on all trainers as most of us are good.
The main thing I noticed is people need help and not everyone is getting it. This is why I started 310 Fitness. I want to help people understand their nutrition and how to train correctly. I don’t want to stand around on my phone whilst you train, and I don’t want to prescribe you random exercises or promise you a magical quick fix to get to your fitness goal. I am here as a guide, mentor, educator and to help keep you accountable to fitness journey.
